TGG:  Training Manual

Project
Community Certification Training Manual for The Good Grid (TGG)

Program Objective
This manual demonstrates how I meet the following program objectives:

  • demonstrating mastery of my craft through attention to detail

  • analyzing a wide range of rhetorical situations and creating documents that will work best in each particular situation

  • understanding the history and major theories of my profession; knowing how the rules of my craft were shaped and how they are changing

  • participating in the profession beyond the classroom

  • conducting myself as a professional at all times, representing the profession well

This manual was for an audience outside of The Good Grid (TGG), so I had to consider the readers as I was creating the procedures. Each step needed to be clear so that the training would make sense. Since this manual was going to be used outside of the organization, I felt that it was important that TGG present itself well by having clear, appealing documentation.

Context
This manual was created to train our connected partners (organizations affiliated with TGG) to become more familiar with Good Grid services, specifically the MyPortfolio and Social Hub features. Information from this manual was also used as a foundation for other manuals I created. This work was part of my internship credit under the supervision of Dr. Cindy Nahrwold. This manual follows the style guide that I created for The Good Grid.

Audience
I created this manual to be used by The Good Grid to be used in training sessions for our connected partners.

Process
I worked with the web developer on my team to complete this document. He provided me with the screenshots and some basic information. I put that information into the style template I had created for the organization. Then, I went onto the TGG website myself to double-check the processes and add notes of my own. Since my audience was people who were being trained, I wanted to make sure all of the procedures made sense to someone who was not familiar with our website and services.
